GREYTOWN BOROUGH

COUNCIL MONTHLY MEETING. CONTRIBUTION TO AERO CLUB. (“Times-Age” Special.) - The Mayor, Mr A. W. Horton, presided at the monthly meeting of the Greytown Borough Council, held last night. The Wairarapa Hospital Board advised that the council’s levy for the current year would be £244 as com; pared with £228 last year. “Aero clubs are doing excellent work throughout the Dominion,” observed Mr Horton, when referring to an application by the Wairarapa and Ruahine Aero Club for financial assistance. “It is a matter for the council to decide,” he added, “but if you turn it down you might regret it in the future.” Councillor A. Stuart said it was a deserving cause and he thought the council should make some contribution. Other councillors agreed and it was decided to make a grant of £5 ss. The Mayor reported that arrangements had been made for the employment by the council of 10 unemployed men for six months at £4 13s 4d a week. The matter was referred to the Works Committee for consideration. It was stated that Greytown’s contribution to the Wellington District Court at the Centennial Exhibition had been provisionally set down at £45.
