WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT HASTWELL. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs J. Broadbent presided over a fair attendance of members at the meeting of the Women’s Institute on Wednesday afternoon. Miss M. Larsen, of the Mauriceville Women’s Institute, demonstrated faggoting in which members were very interested. At the conclusion of the demonstration Miss Larsen was accorded a vote of thanks. The competitions for the month resulted as follows: —Article from 1 yard of cretonne, senior section, Mrs G. Halberg 1, Miss E. Dick 2, Mrs R. McKay and Mrs Morris equal 3. Juniors section, Miss K. Larsen 1, Miss O. Halberg 2. Best flower in the garden, Mrs A. Madsen 1, Miss H. Madsen 2. Mrs A. Larsen and Miss M. Larsen who judged the competitions were accorded votes of thanks. A game was won by Miss E. Dick. Mrs A. Larsen, Mrs Dick, Mrs Casely and Miss H. Madsen tied for 2nd place, and Mrs McKay. Miss M. Larsen, Miss I. Madsen and Miss P. Thorby were equal 3rd. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs Madsen, Mrs McKay and Miss H. Madsen. The meeting concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
