ANOTHER EIGHT THOUSAND REACH FRANCE 4 HEAVY LOSSES DURING LAST STAND. INSURGENT ULTIMATUM. (Recd This Day, 11.40 a.m.) LONDON, June 16. “The Times” Tarbes correspondent says eight thousand more members of the "Lost Division” from Spain have reached France, where villagers hastened to supply the starving men with soup. The fugitives left the wooded hillsides of the Gala Pass’ in flames in order to delay pursuit. Many are wounded. Their losses during their last stand were so heavy that they were unable to bury the dead. Gen- ■ eral Franco gives the members of the Division forty-eight hours to decide whether they shall be repatriated to loyalist or rebel Spain. BOMBS ON BARCELONA. BRITISH SEAMAN KILLED. (Recd This Day, 11.40 a.m.) BARCELONA, June 16. Rebels bombed the port and fatally wounded a British seaman, Edgar Marquet, while he was running from a raid shelter to the steamer Seabankspray. INSURGENT DRIVE WITHIN TWENTY-TWO MILES OF VALENCIA. (Recd This Day,' 1.20 p.m.) LONDON, June 17. The “Daily Telegraph’s" Saragossa correspondent says General Franco’s troops are within nineteen miles of Sagunto and twenty-two miles of Valencia. A Madrid message states that the loyalists have rallied four miles south of Castellon and established a new line along the Mijares River, on which they are offering a stern resistance to the rebels.
