SOCIAL CLUBS

1 CONTEST FOR SHIELD. WIN FOR WAINGAWA. A very enjoyable function was held at the Masterton Catholic Club Rooms last night when the club entertained the Waingawa Social Club in connection with the challenge match for a shield presented by the Waingawa Social Club for competition between the two clubs. Bridge, “500,” quoits, billiards, snooker and table tennis games were engaged in, and the Waingawa Club were successful in retaining the shield in the first contest of the season by 3 points to 2. The ladies’ committee of the Catholic Club provided the supper. The captain of the Waingawa team expressed thanks to the challengers for the pleasant night’s entertainment. A return match will be played later in the season.
