PRIME MINISTER

VISIT TO MASTERTON TOMORROW. CIVIC AND LABOUR PARTY RECEPTIONS. On the occasion of his visit to Masterton tomorrow, the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon M. J. Savage, will be tendered a civic reception by the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan in the Opera House at 5.30 o’clock and in the evening in the Municipal Hall, a reception will be given by the Masterton branch of the Labour Party. A concert and dance programme has been arranged, starting at 8 o'clock. A welcome to the Prime Minister will be extended by Mr R. N. Shaw, chairman of the Masterton Labour Representation Committee and by Mr J. Robertson, M.P.; a haka of welcome will be given by members of the• Maori race and a welcome on behalf of the Maoris by Mr P. H. Paku. Mr Savage will reply at 9 o’clock. Included in the programme are dance items by the pupils of Miss Hazel Lock, Miss Noeline Graham, a poi dance, a dance duo by Misses Lock, an acrobatic dance by Miss Ngaire Marsh and vocal solos by Mrs Evelyn Oliver and Mr William C. Mann. There will be modern and old time dancing from 10.17 to midnight.

AWARDS FOR BRAVERY. PRESENTATIONS BY MR SAVAGE. Mr Savage is to be asked at the civic reception tomorrow to present two framed letters of commendation from the Royal Humane Society to Mrs K. Ingley (nee Miss Dorothy Pickering) and Miss Zoe Pickering in recognition of their gallant efforts to save the life of Mr Monty Tocker, who was drowned at Lake Ferry on March 30, 1934. VISIT TO EKETAHUNA. CIVIC WELCOME ARRANGED. En route to Masterton, Mr Savage will visit Eketahuna, where a civic welcome will be extended to him in the public hall at 2.45 p.m. Mr Savage will also stop at Mauriceville.
