HOSPITAL PATIENTS
. —————— “NO END TO EVER-INCREASING FLOW.” PROBLEMS FACING BOARD. “I am afraid there is no end to the ever-increasing flow of patients coming into hospital,” remarked a chairman, Mr H. H. Mawley, at yesterday’s meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board. “We are faced by a great many problems,” he added, when referring to the fact that there was a shortage of both patients’ and nurses’ accommodation at the Greytown Hospital. Mr Mawley said they did not know at present what the future of the Greytown Hospital would be. When the proposed three-storey block was completed at Masterton it might be possible to relieve the situation at Greytown. If they were going to expand at Greytown and expand at Masterton the expense would be overwhelming. The new three-storey block at Masterton could not possibly be completed within two years, but the time had not arrived to spend a large sum of money at Greytown. Mr Arch Clark said that the Greytown Hospital was full and there was a waiting list. The Buchanan Home was also full. It was decided to erect a three-room residence to accommodate the night nurses at Grey town.
