WAIRARAPAD AERO CLUB
MASTERTON COUNTY GRANT.
CONTRIBUTION OF £lO.
In response to a request for financial assistance, the Masterton County Council decided at its meeting yesterday to make a grant of £lO to the Wairarapa and Ruahine Aero Club.
The chairman, Mr Gorden Lee, pointed out that the council had given the club £lOO three or four years ago, but had made no grant since. Councillor W. I. Armstrong suggested that a grant of £25 be made. Councillor H. H. Mawley thought it was the duty of the Government to assist aero clubs. Their work is all bound up with defence, which makes it a national matter.
“I think we should go easy this year and give them £10.” observed Mr Lee.
Councillor J. W. Colquhoun: “We are not here to give the ratepayers’ money away for those things.” It was decided to give the club £lO.
