WEDDING MIX-UP

ELOPED BRIDE’S PLACE TAKEN BY SISTER.

An ox and several sheep had been killed and roasted for the wedding feast of Darinka Ruzhichitch and Stanislav Margovitch, in the village of Pirorman, in Serbia, and the guests had already begun to assemble, as is the local custom, on the eve of the wedding day, when it was discovered that the bride, Darinka, had eloped with an old flame, Ostoye Milenkovitch. Nevertheless, the banquet duly took place amid general rejoicings.

Hasty negotiations between the two families led to the marriage, the next day, of Darinka’s younger and prettier, sister to Stanislav, and both pairs are now declared to be happy.
