RIVER CONTROL
PROPOSAL FOR UNIFICATION. DISCUSSION WITH MINISTER OF PUBLIC WORKS. (“Times-Age” Special.) A proposal to unify the control of the river boards in the Wairarapa and with the co-operation of the local bodies establish a single authority which would deal effectively with the evefincreasing menace of river erosion will be placed before the Hon ’ R. Semple, Minister of Public Works, at Martinborough this afternoon. Other matters to be discussed with the Minister will be the construction of two bridges on the White Rock Road and a proposal to give improved access to the Tuturumuri Settlement by means of a deviation estimated to cost £2600.
The Minister was entertained at lunch by the Featherston County Council.
