FEATHERSTON
SCHOOL ASSOCIATION (“Times-Age” Special) A meeting of the Featherston Home and School Association was held in the Primary School on Wednesday evening primarily for the purpose of discussing the tenders received for installing a sound system in the school. The headmaster explained that the Education Department contemplated utilising part of the present primary building as a secondary department, and adding extra primary class rooms of the open air type. Owing to these impending alterations the meeting decided to postpone consideration of the tenders until such time as the i Department’s plans were finalised. At the close of the meeting the headmaster (Mr H. E. Pendergrast) in view of his departure from Featherston, thanked the members of the committee for the excellent service they had given in the interests of the school. Miss Card (president), supported by Mr W. Shepherd, expressed, on behalf of the association, their regret at the departure of Mr Pendergrast. CHAMPION GOLF CUP. At the Gum Grove links yesterday the second round of the ladies’ championship cup was played, the leading scores being:—Miss E. Bloxam, 70 nett, 3 points; Miss Williams and Mrs Davis, 75 nett, points. PERSONAL. Mr A. C. E. Johnson, an employee of Mr J. R. Matthews, Ratahui, had the misfortune to have two fingers severely crushed yesterday. He was loading concrete posts when one slipped, causing the injury.
