RUGBY UNION MEETS
RETURN MATCH WITH BAY. DATE ALTERED TO JULY 16. The fortnightly meeting of the management committe of the Wairarapa Rugby Union was held in Carterton last night. Those present were: Messrs H. McPhee (chairman), Q. Donald, E. B. Booth, K. Fairbrother, C. A. Gray, K. Reid, M. Parker, L. Pearson and W. Rayner. ■ A favourable report on the recent visit to Hawke’s Bay of the Wairarapa senior representative team was given by the manager, Mr N. Rayner. It was decided to write thanking the Hawke’s Bay Union for the hospitality extended to the Wairarapa team during its visit.
A third grade player, N. Archer, was granted a transfer from the Carterton to Dalefield Club, subject to a clearance being given.
Letters were received from the Carterton and Greytown District High Schools thanking the Union for donations of footballs. A letter was received from the Hawke’s Bay Union agreeing to alter the date of the return 'match with Wairarapa to July 16. Requests for footballs received from the Lansdowne and Mauriceville schools were granted. Arrangements were made for a match to be played between the Wairarapa and Bush senior representative teams at Pahiatua on June 21. Mr M. Parker was appointed manager of the Wairarapa team. An invitation received from the Puketoi Sub-Union to play a 'match on July 16 was declined with regret.
