MAURICEVILLE

DAIRY COMPANY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of directors of the Mauriceville Dairy Company held on Wednesday was presided over by Mr V. K. Lemberg. The directors decided to make a further payment on July 20 of 2d per pound on all butterfat received for the 12 months from June 1, 1937, to May 31, 1938. This will make the payment over the whole season to date 14d. The final payment for the season will be made later. The manager reported that the butter grading had been consistently good with the result that the company had earned the full premium for quality on most of the exported output. The local sales foi’ the season show a pleasing increase. The staff are now engaged on “off” days cleaning and painting the factory and plant in readiness for the coming season which promises to be better than ever. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. Mrs Freeman presided over a fair attendance at the monthly meeting of the Mauriceville Women’s Institute held at Mauriceville West. The roll call for the afternoon was a health hint. Mrs Thompson and Miss McKenzie, of Masterton, spoke on first aid and gave a useful demonstration on bandaging. , Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs Duncan and Miss A. McGovern. TABLE TENNIS. At Nireaha on Tuesday evening a junior team from Mauriceville was successful in a match against the Nireaha team. SCHOOLS EXCURSION. . The Mauriceville and Mauriceville West schools along with Kopuaranga and Hastwells will journey to Palmerston North on Tuesday next to visit the Manawatu Show. The Railways Department has altered the trains to suit and will run passenger trains instead of the ordinary mixed trains to cater for the large number who will be making the trip.
