ST. MATTHEW’S CHURCH

There was a very large attendance at the first social afternoon for the year held on Thursday in St. Matthew’s Hall. The Ladies’ Guild under their president, Mrs E. J. Rich, received the guests. Much appreciated items were rendered by Mrs Olli ver and Miss Jean Douglas. Mrs A. Miller Hope was accompaniste. The speaker for the day was Mrs J. T. Holland, wife of the Vicar of Featherston, who gave a most interesting talk on life in London with special mention of the Coronation festivities. Presentations were made to Mesdames Armstrong and Barlow, members of the Guild who will leave Masterton shortly. A most enjoyable afternoon concluded with afternoon tea served by Guild members.
