The Governor-General, Lord Galway, left Auckland for Wellington last night, and will be present at the air display at Rongotai aerodrome this afternoon. His Excellency will leave Wellington for Christchurch tonight to participate in the King’s Birthday pai - ade on Monday. He will return to Auckland on Wednesday.

Miss Gladys Hale left Masterton this week on an extended visit to friends and relatives in the South Island. Miss Maud Williams, of Masterton. is on a short visit to Auckland, where she will be the guest of Mr and Mrs Hugh Williams, formerly of Masterton. The Hon W. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, who has been visiting Australia. is expected to return to Auckland from Sydney by the Awatea on Monday. He will arrive in Wellington by the Limited express on Tuesday. The death at the age of 77 of SilHenry Marks is reported in a cablegram from Suva. Sir Henry had a long and distinguished career in Suva as a business man and in civic official positions.

The Hon F. Jones, Minister of Defence, who will leave Wellington for the south by aeroplane tomorrow, has accepted an invitation to open the provincial conference of the . Farmers’ Union and the Women’s Division of the union at Dunedin on Tuesday. While in the south he will address a public meeting in his own electorate. Dunedin South. He will be absent from Wellington for about a week.
