WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. (“Times-Age” Special.) •There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute yesterday afternoon. Mrs J. Lamb presided. Five new members were elected. A very interesting talk on garden shrubs and trees was given by Mr Hale, of Masterton, who was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his address. Mrs McAlpine continued the Golden Thread talk. A competition, bowl of flowers suitable for a dinner table, was-won by Mrs McAlpine, with Mrs Casely second. There was a large number of entries for this competition, which proved very interesting. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr Walter Roper returned on Wednesday from a short visit to Auckland. Mrs Sands returned to Wellington on Wednesday after a visit paid to her daughter, Mrs Hugh Haycock. Mr G. McLennan has returned from a five weeks’ holiday in Australia. Mrs Black, of Wellington, is visiting her daughter, Mrs V. Rankine. Mr and Mrs Walter Tilson, of Moiki, left today by car for a holiday in Auckland.
