FEATHERSTON
LAKE DOMAIN BOARD. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Lake Domain Board was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Monday night. Mr J. W. Card was in the chair, others present being F. W. Smith, W. A. Tate, E. F. Watson, M. B. Tait, Miss Currie (secretary). An apology for absence was received from Mr N. C. C. Shepherd. The annual report, statement of receipts and expenditure, and the balance sheet were read and adopted. It was decided to leave the planting of further trees at the Domain in the hands of the local members of the board.
Mr J. W. Card was re-elected chairman for the ensuing year.
The following report was read: — During the year attention was chiefly paid to repairing the road, in grubbing gorse, repairing fences and attending to the plantation. One hundred eucalyptus (gums) were planted, and these, as well as existing trees, are doing well. The programme laid out by the late chairman (Mr William Benton) is being followed. It is proposed to spend £lO in fencing and planting during the year. The area of the Domain is 315 acres, of which 180 acres are leased. There is a balance of £33 4s Id, this being an increase of £5 Is 4d over the balance in hand at the beginning of the year. The buildings and improvements are valued at £177 10s 2d. QUEEN CARNIVAL COMPETITION. The winners of the competition held in connection with the Queen Carnival were: Crystal jug and basin, Miss K. Ruane; doll (name “Priscilla”), Mr Fish (Masterton). PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs R. Foss, South Featherston, and Mr and Mrs C. Fenwick left today on a motor tour of the North Island.
