MARTINBOROUGH

PLUNKET SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age’/ Special.) There was a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Plunket Society which was held in the Parish Hall yesterday. Mrs W. J. Martin (president), was in the chair. The secretary read the annual report and Mr H- L. Griffiths (treasurer) presented the balance sheet, the latter showing a satisfactory financial position. All last year’s officers were re-elect-ed. At the close of the meeting Mrs Jowett, president of the Wellington branch, addressed those present on Plunket and Karitane activities, and urged members to secure- a larger membership. She paid a compliment to the local branch on its possession of such fine rooms and its splendid officers and organisation. Mrs C. Gray, president of the coastal branches, comprising the districts from Porirua to Otaki, was present. Dr. M. B. M. Tweed, formerly a director of the Plunket Society, who will shortly leave for England, was present and best wishes for a pleasant voyage were extended to him. Mesdames H. M. B. Trapp and R. N. Campbell represented the Carterton brinch. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr Frank Dunham, of Pongaroa, is spending a fortnight’s holiday in Martinborough. Mrs L. Nielsen returned home on Monday from a holiday in Palmerston North. Messrs Hector Wallace and K. Wallace, of Dyerville, left on Monday for Ohakune where they have bought a farm.
