MEETING OF TARARUA BOARD PROFIT ON YEAR’S WORKING (“Times-Age” Special) At a meeting of the Tararua Electric Power Board at Eketahuna yesterday, Mr J. D. Wilson, was elected chairman for the qnsuing three years. Mr Wilson welcomed two new members, Messrs A. Forsberg and L. Johnston, and it was decided that the whole board constitute a Finance Committee. The question of including portion of the Weber County in the board’s area was discussed, and it was decided to consult the Dannevirke Power Board to carry and to consider the matter further at the next meeting. A committe was set up to go into the matter of office accommodation at Pahiatua and Eketahunna. It was decided to reduce the milking motor plant rate from 3Jd to 3d. The heat storage rate was reduced from 17s 6d a month to 16s a month. In his annual report, the secretarymanager, Mr W. F. Taylor, said the board closed the year with a net profit of £1,200. A revision of charges and an adjustment of salaries and wages during the year cost the board of £2,600. The amount spent on new work during the year was £6BOB. The maintenance of the system, replacements and renewals cost £4495, as against £3884 last year, an increase of £6ll. Management and general, loan expenses, coronation expenses, etc., cost £2653, as against £2312 last year, an increase of £341. Mr Taylor said the trend of wages was upwards. Wages paid were in excess of award rates owing to the shortage of labour. The effect of these facts would be an additional burden for the next year.
