MO-KATOA SCOUTS
ENJOYABLE GATHERING LAST EVENING. A large number of parents, friends and visiting Scouters from the St Matthew’s and Featherston groups attended the opening night and first of a series of social gatherings given by the Mo-Katoa Scout Group in their attractive Scout Den, Dixon. Street, last night. Although only formed in October last the group, under its enthusiastic Scoutmaster, Mr C. D. Bannister, has made great progress. Mr N. C. C. Shepherd, District Commissioner, congratulated the group on its work. He then presented Mr A. Allsop with his Assistant-Scoutmaster’s warrant, wishing him many happy years of scouting. Most of the evening was devoted to novel games, dancing and other items. Assistant-Scoutmaster Allsop gave a tap dance and Patrol-Leader D. Brown and Scout Butler a mouth-organ duet. After supper, moving films were shown and were much enjoyed.. On the motion of Mr Shoosmith, a vote of thanks was carried to those who had helped so willingly to make the evening a success.
The dance music was played by Mr H. L. T. Byrn.
