WEDDING

LIDDELL—PRIEST. (“Times-Age” Special.) A wedding of considerable interest took place on Saturday at the Methodist Church, Carterton, the contracting parties being Miss Phyllis Eveline Priest, only daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Priest, highly esteemed citizens of Carterton (and a grand-daughter of the late Mr and Mrs George Thomas, pioneer settlers of the Dalefield district) and Ralph Stanley Liddell, only son of the Rev R. J. Liddell, of Glen Eden, Auckland,- and the late Mrs Liddell, of Carterton. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a gown of gold crepe satin, with an overdress of gold lace forming a train. The square cut neckline was finished with sprays of orange blossom. The gold tulle veil was held in place by a halo of tiny arum lilies, and the beautiful shower bouquet of gold chrysanthemums was the gift of Mrs A. E. Goodin, of Dalefield.

The bride was attended by the bridegroom’s sister, Miss Eunice Liddell, of Auckland. Miss Liddell wore a frock of heavy faille taffeta in a deep shade of clover with a small halo hat to match. Miss Liddell also carried a bouquet of gold chrysanthemums.

The bridegroom was attended by his brother-in-law, Mr D. Beale, of North Auckland. Messrs Ken. Keall and Phil Millichamp, of Carterton, were ushers. The Rev R. J. Liddell, father of the bridegroom, officiated, assisted by the Rev H. White, of the Methodist Church, Carterton. During the signing of the register Mrs D. Beale (nee Miss Phyllis Liddell), of North Auckland, sang the solo, “Where’er You Walk,” very beautifully, Mr W. G. Thomas, an uncle of the bride, playing the accompaniment. Mr Thomas also played the wedding march as the bridal party was leaving the church and the music throughout the ceremony. A reception was afterwards held at the Masonic Hall, Carterton, when many relatives and friends were entertained. The guests were received by the bride’s parents, Mr and Mrs R. Priest, the latter wearing a wine-col-oured frock under a mole-coloured poneyskin coat. Mrs Priest carried a posy to tone. Mrs D. Beale, of North Auckland, a sister of the bridegroom, assisted and was smartly attired in a saxe blue model frock with navy accessories. Later, when the bride and bridegroom left by car for the , north on their honeymoon trip, the bride was wearing a petrel blue frock under a musquash fur coat. On their return Mr and Mrs Ralph S. Liddell will take up their residence at Victoria Street, Carterton.
