POLITICS TABOO
BARRED AT P. & A. MEETING. HARBOUR BOARD ELECTION. (“Times-Age” Special.) “We cannot discuss party politics here,” remarked the president, Mr J. Fisher, at this morning’s meeting of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society. In the course of general business, Mr Fisher referred to the Wellington Harbour Board election next Wednesday. While it was not his intention to discuss, politics, he thought that if members were not satisfied with the present members it was their duty to put them out. On the other hand, if they were satisfied, they should put them back.
Mr C. Reid said farmers should take an interest in the Harbour Board. "It is a pretty serious matter,” he added, “as there are a couple of Labour candidates standing. . . Mr J. R. McLeod: “No politics.” Mr Fisher agreed that politics could not be discussed at the meeting and the matter was dropped.
