EKETAHUNA

A SUCCESSFUL W.D.F.U. YEAR. ("Times-Age” Special.) The annual report of the president of the Eketahuna branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union states inter alia:—We have had a most successful year, the membership now standing at 68. Several housekeepers have been supplied in cases of sickness and have all given satisfaction to those who have engaged them. Donations have been sent to the Wairarapa Community Chest Fund —the proceeds of a shop day l —to the Lepers’ Xmas Fund, King George Fund, and to the Chinese Relief Fund, while goods were sold on behalf of the Disabled Soldiers’ League. In August we , celebrated our fifth birthday, when there was a very large attendance of members and friends from other branches. Among those present were Mesdames Wickham (Wanganui), Barrer and Jackson (Masterton). In August the Division sponsored and assisted the Home Arts and Crafts competition and in October a combined W.D.F.U. social was held. A social afternoon was held in December and in February the members were the guests of the Misses Anderson at their home in Alfredton Road. The branch has been represented at practically all the executive meetings. Miss Anderson and Mrs Wilson were delegates to the Dominion Conference from the branch and Mrs Brittain a delegate from the Wairarapa executive. In conclusion I wish to thank the members and officers of the branch for their loyal support and co-operation during the year. Their help has made my work as president a pleasure and I feel that we have in our small way done our best to carry out the aims of the Women’s Division.' Special thanks are due to Mrs Brittain (secretary) and Miss N. Smith (treasurer) for their work.
