WOMEN’S INSTSITUTE

SOLWAY-MANAIA MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special). A well attended meeting of the Sol-way-Manaia Women’s Institute was held yesterday. The president (Mrs Munn) extended a hearty welcome to new members and visitors. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Allan, Carruthers, Aplin, Cotton, McMichael and Miss Allan. The roll call was "Your favourite singer.” Mrs Mannell was heartily thanked for her demonstration of Italian quilting. Competitions resulted as follow: — Potato growing: Mrs Munn (261b5.). Sewing: Mrs Knudson, 1; Mrs Nicol, 2. Cooking: Mrs Webber, 1; Mrs Blatchford. 2. Flowers: Mrs Scrivener. 1; Mrs Munn, 2. The roll call for June will be “How I would like to spend a wet day;” demonstration, paper twine basket making; competitions, sewing, knitted toy; cooking. Belgium biscuits; flowers, decorated bowl.
