THEFT CHARGES
SHOPLIFTER ADMITS GUILT. By Telegraph.—Press Association, WELLINGTON, May 3. Comment on the "amazing laxity” cf shopkeepers in displaying their goods was made by Mr C. R. Barrett, who appeared for Linda Clark in the Magistrates’ Court, Wellington today, before Mr W. F. Stilwell, S.M., Accused, a married woman, aged 19, with a child aged six months, pleaded guilty to 25 charges of theft from city stores during the past 15 months. The value of the goods stolen amounted to more than £lOO and the list included cloth-/ ing. footwear, linen and material. zYccused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within the next three years. For the first two years she was ordered to enter the Mount Magdala Home at Christchurch. The magistrate expressed the opinion that the happy conditions at the home would give accused a chance to reestablish herself.
