INTOXICATED DRIVERS
MAGISTRATE'S WARNING AN ACCUSED FINED £35 (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 3. “There will be a rude awakening for some of these people. One will have to take up this attitude that in future, except where there are special circumstances, and I emphasise very special circumstances, imprisonment will have to follow.” This statement was made by Mr C. R. Orr-Walker, S.M., in the Magistrates’ Court, when fining Thomas Price, aged 39, concrete worker, £35 for having been intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car on the Franklin Road on Saturday. Accused’s driving licence was cancelled for two years.
