MARTINBOROUGH
CROQUET CLUB. (“Times-Age” Special.) With a much increased membership, the Martinborough Croquet Club terminated a very successful season on Saturday, when members met at the club house for a social afternoon and the presentation of prizes. For the first time in the club’s history teams had entered for both the A and B grade inter-club competition, and although unsuccessful in gaining either shields, the margin of points was only 3 in the A grade and 7 in the B grade. The Intermediate Buttons, and B grade Brooches were both held by Martinborough players at the end of the season, and Mrs N. Thomas was successful in winning the C grade Champion of Champion Buttons. The following is a list of the winners in club competitions held during the season: Todd Memorial Cup, Mesdames McAlpine and Marflitt; senior handicap singles cup, Mrs Caseley; junior handicap singles cup, Mrs Marflitt; most improved first year player (Bowler's Cup), Mrs J. Jenkins; mallets, Mesdames Williamson and Thomas.
