LONDON MARKET QUOTATIONS LAMB PRICES ADVANCE Lamb market: Lamb still meeting with good demand and prices all descriptions have further advanced. Mutton market: Wethers, steady and unchanged; ewes, tendency is easier. Beef market: Frozen beef, no quotations; chilled beef, slightly easier on the extremely heavy supplies. New Zealand porker pigs: Firmer on the short stocks. New Zealand baconer pigs: Market steady and unchanged. The above report was received yesterday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday. Chilled beef prices are averages of the week. All prices are on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market. Previous prices are also shown: — New Zealand Sheep—Crossbred wethers and/or maiden ewes: 481 b and under, 5 7-8 d (same); 491 b to 561 b, 5Jd (same); 571 b to 641 b, 5d (same); 651 b to 721 b, 4 7-8 d (4 7-Bd, 4?d). Ewes: 481 b and under, 4d (4d, 4 l-8d); 491 b. to 561 b, 3£d (3 5-Bd, 3 5-8 d); 571 b to 641 b, 3 3-8 d (same); 651 b to 721 b, 3Jd (same). New Zealand Lambs. —Canterbury: 361 b and under, 7jjd (7 5-Bd, 7Jd); 371 b to 421 b, 7 5-8 d (7£d, 7 3-8 d); 431 b to 501 b, 71 d (7id, 7 l-8d); second quality, average about 31 lb, 74d (7 3-Bd, 71d). Best North Island crossbred lambs, 28/361b5., 7’d; 36/42, 7j d. North Island second quality lambs, average 30/311bs„ 7Jd. Best North Island wether sheep, under 48 lbs., 5 7-8 d; 48/56, 5Jd; 56/64, sd; 64/72, 4 7-Bd. North Island ewes, under 48 lbs., 4d; 48/56, 31d; 56/64, 3 3-8 d; 64/72, 3{d. New Zealand prime ox beef, 160/220, none offering. Compared with last week’s quotations, Down lambs, 28/361b5., Jd per lb, higher; 36/421b5., l-8d per lb higher. Crossbred lambs, 28/361b5., and second quality lambs l-8d per lb. higher. Wethers, 48/561b5., l-8d per lb. higher. Others unchanged. The lamb market continues firm. * The mutton market is unchanged.
