FEATHERSTON
ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY (“Times-Age” Special). The annual meeting of the South Wairarapa branch of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Tuesday evening. There was a large attendance, Carterton and Greytown being represented. The following members from the Wellington Head Council were present:— Dr Anson (chairman), Messrs Aldridge (chairman of the Game Committee), Wiffin (secretary), Jones and Boyes. An'apology for absence was received from Mr Seed, (chairman of the Fish Committee). Mr A. McLeod was in the chair. Before commencing business the meeting stood in silence as a tribute to the late Mr A. Balfour, who was a keen sportsman. The chairman extended a hearty welcome to visiting members. . The following officers were elected: —Carterton: R, Williams, G. Vincent, A.'Player, L. Rayner; Greytown: C. G. Bouzaid, W. Jordan, H. . Farley, S. Nichols. Featherston: Messrs. A. McLeod, L. Smith, H. Harland, C. Wenden, Dr Sharp; Secretary: Mr H. C. Playle. Dr Sharp was elected chairman and representative for the South Wairarapa in the Wellington Council. Dr Anson paid tribute to Mr A. McLeod’s services as chairman of the Society. CARD TOURNAMENT The Fire Brigade held its weekly card tournament in the Anzac Hall on Tuesday evening. There was a good attendance. The prize winners were as follow: — Ladies: Mrs Worsley 1, Mrs Patrick 2. I Men:—Mr J. Rae 1, J. Lepenski 2.
