LIKING FOR HOSPITALS
MAN FOUND SLEEPING IN CORRIDOR EPISODE AFTER MIDNIGHT Charles Birt likes the Masterton Public Hospital so much that after midnight last night he visited the institution and, after wandering about for a time, settled down for the night on a seat in the main corridor. He had removed his boots and was apparently quite comfortable when his rest was disturbed by the appearance of a constable, who promptly placed him under arrest on a charge of being found on premises without a lawful excuse. When Birt appeared in the Magistrate’s Court this morning, Senior-Ser-geant G. A. Doggett said that shortly after midnight the police were notified that a man was in the hospital disturbing the nurses and patients. Birt, who was under the influence of liquor, has gained admittance by climbing over the railing on one of the verandahs.
Accused pleaded guilty and was convicted and fined £2 by Messrs A. D. Low and E. M. Hodder, Js’.P., who were on the Bench.
