Thought it was Snow.
Holiday-makers journeying to Muriwai on Sunday were surprised to see what they thought to be a light fall of snow on an area of several acres some distance from the beach. Closer investigation revealed that the grass was covered with a thick coating of spiderwebs. Th light rain which had fallen during the day had given the webs a white, fluffy appearance. Pleasant Point Fatality. An accident at Pleasant Point on March 18, as a result of which two men lost their lives, was recalled at the Timaru Magistrate's Court today when Bernard James Simmons, aged 23, was charged on two counts that he negligently drove a motor-car and did thereby cause the deaths of Thomas George Keen and James Samuel Bell. After considerable evidence had been heard accussed was committed for trial.
