EKETAHUNA

DEANNA DURBIN CONTEST. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was very keen interest shown in the Deanna Durbin contest in Eketahuna and the final took place at the pictures on Saturday night. There were four ladies in the final, viz., Constance McAlister, Patricia McNab, Maureen McNab and Joyce Terry, and they respectively sang “To a Miniature,” “Someone to Care for Me” (2), and Toscelli’s “Serenade.” The winner was Constance McAlister, who is only ten years of age. ’ ROADS BLOCKED BY SLIPS. Roads throughout the district have suffered heavy damage as the result of the rainfall during the past week. At Alfredton Saunders Road is blocked at the time of writing, while slips have closed the Pori Road. Much damage was done on the Summit Hill by slips.
