Severe frosts, following an unseasonable warmth in Northern Europe, have created havoc in British orchards, where growers fear the worst season for years. Similar frosts have been experienced in France, where damage to vineyards is estimated at £6,000,000. Many growers are faced with ruin. It is anticipated that 150 million fewer gallons of wine will be produced.
