FEATHERSTON
CHORAL SOCIETY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Featherston Choral Society and combined choirs rendered. Stainer’s “Crucifixion” in St. John’s Church on Wednesday evening. The Revs Holland and Keenan assisted in the service. The conductor (Mr S. W. Booth) was at the organ. Visitors from Masterton and Carterton assisted the choir. The soloists were Bass, Mr Irwin, Mr Mann; tenors, Mr Greer, Mr F. Clarke; quartet, Mesdames Skippage and Houston, Misses Kenward and Gordon. The collection was in aid of the British and Foreign Bible Society. WOMEN’S DIVISION SHOP DAY. The Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union held a successful Shop Day on Wednesday. The takings amounted to £l5. Mrs Brophy was the winner of the cake, guessing the correct number of peas in a bottle. PERSONALS. Mrs Waddell, Bluff, is staying with her sister, Mrs W. Hume, Pirinoa. The latter will leave for England this week. Miss E. Till left today for Taumaranui where she is to spend Easter with her sister, Mrs Lumley. The friends of Miss Tyer will regret to hear that she is seriously ill. Mrs Partridge, Island Bay, is the guest of Mrs H. Clark. Miss M. Brown, Cross Creek, has returned from a holiday spent with relatives in Hawera.
