MAURICEVILLE COUNTY
MEETING OF COUNCIL. TODAY’S BUSINESS. The chairman (Mr E. W. Cheetham) presided at the monthly meeting of the Mauriceville County Council held this morning. The Mauriceville Dairy Company wrote asking the council to tar seal the Mauriceville Road in front of the factory. Dust rose in clouds, the letter stated,' making its way into the factory, and the only cure for the nuisance was to tar seal the road. It was decided to hold the matter over for the consideration of the incoming council.
Mr. Cheetham pointed out that there vzas every prospect of having part of the southern section of the main Mauriceville Road declared a main highway in exchange for the main highway at the northern end. If that were done tar pealing would be carried out. The sealing of a small section as requested would be uneconomical.
The treasurer reported a debit of £954, and accounts amounting to £522 were passed for payment.
