A farewell social was tendered at Pahiatua last night to Rev. C. M. Roberts and Mrs Roberts, who will leave shortly for Levin.
Messrs David Donald and E. J. Jenkins have been elected vice-presi-dents of the Masterton Miniature Rifle Club.
Mr and Mrs Trevor Beetham, of “Towcett,” Masterton, have returned home after a three weeks’ motor trip in the South Island. A London cable reports that Mr Montagu Norman, for the nineteenth successive year, has been re-elected governor of the Bank of England. Sir Abe Bailey, who was reported some time ago to be seriously ill. has had his remaining leg amputated, a Cape Town cablegram reports. Mr Alexander Miller, whose funeral took place on Monday at Port Chalmers, was well-known as a bandsman and a bowler. He played in the Kaikorai, Citizens’, and old Port Chalmers Garrison Bands. Deceased was well-known among old bandsmen in Masterton.
