THEFT OF SHEEP
FARM MANAGER PLEADS GUILTY CHRISTCHURCH, April 7. Three charges of sheep stealing; involving 216 animals valued at £268, alleged to have been stolen in three different years, were faced by Sydney Edward Richards, aged 49, Oxford, farm manager, at the Magistrates’ Court today. Evidence was given of Richards selling sheep and of shortages in the musters on runs adjoining that which he managed. In a signed statement produced in court Richards admitted thefts of sheep from adjoining stations. He said he altered the earmarks and sold the animals after shearing. Richardgjqpleaded guilty to all charges and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
