DECREASE IN REVENUE EXPENDITURE HIGHER Railway revenue and expenditure figures for the period from April 1 of last year to March 5 this year are published in the Gazette issued last evening. Revenue amounted to £7,899,756 as compared with £6,062,446 for the corresponding period of the previous year, a decrease of £937,310. Expenditure totalled £7,319,337, or £1,101,879 more than that for the previous year (£6,217,458). The net revenue for the period was therefore £580,419. That for the preceding period was £744,988. For the four-weekly period ended on March 5, the net revenue was £152,266, as compared with £162,789 for the corresponding four weeks last year. The revenue amounted to £803,820, an increase of £70,453, and expenditure to £651,554, or an increase of £80,976.
