CANADIAN PRISONERS

IN HANDS OF SPANISH NATIONALISTS. DILEMMA FOR GOVERNMENT. OTTAWA, April 4. The Radical friends of fifty Canadians, who have been captured by the Nationalists in Spain, have appealed to the Prime Minister to intercede, thus creating a Government dilemma, as the same parties previously had been vehemently demanding non-recogni-tion of the Nationalists.

Advices received by the Government state that Canadians joining the loyalists had forsworn their Canadian citizenship and sworn loyalty to the Valencia People’s Front. There is a strong agitation throughout the Dominion for their classification as Communists, and that they be prohibited from again entering Canada unless they take an oath of loyalty to the King.
