MAURICEVILLE

WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.

(“Times-Age” Special.)

The members of the Women’s Institute held their monthly meeting yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. I. D. Cameron, the gathering being held under the trees on the lawn. Mrs. H. Freeman presided over a good attendance.

Mrs. J. Duncan and Mrs. Gregory were appointed delegates to attend the Council Federation meeting in Carterton on April 29. The birthday of the institute is to take the form of a social and dance to be held in the East Hall at the end of May. A debate is to be held at Kopuaranga Institute in May. Members selected from this Women's Institute were Mrs J. Duncan, Mrs H. Freeman and Mrs I. D. Cameron.

Mrs Freeman presented Miss M. McGovern with a beautiful crystal clock to mark the occasion of her approaching marriage, and made appreciative reference to Miss McGovern’s popularity and keenness in her work for the institute. Mrs. Freeman extended good wishes for Miss McGovern for her future.

A dainty afternoon tea was served under the trees and later several competitions were held. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Cameron and a most enjoyable afternoon was brought to a close. PERSONAL. Mr. and Mrs. Roy, Lawton, Mamaka, are the guests of Mrs J. Milner. The friends of Mr I. D. Cameron will be pleased to know he has quite recovered from his illness. Miss M. McGovern was recently the recipient of a handsome gift from members of the Mauriceville District Gardening Circle. A reminder is given that a kitchen tea will be tendered to Miss McGovern in the East Hall on Saturday, April 9.
