Three large totara trees in the Taupo district have been acquired by Princess Te Puea Herangi, of Ngaruawahia, and it is intended to use them to construct four war canoes. Bringing the trees to the railway will present difficulties and a party of Maoris from the Ngaruawahia pa will leave for Taupo next week to arrange transport.
