SCHOOL ASSOCIATION.
(“Times-Age” Special.)
A meeting of the Home and School Association was held last night, Miss Card presiding over a good attendance.
The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr. R. Matthews; secretary, Mrs. C. Rea; treasurer, Mr K. Allen; president, Miss Card; vice-presidents, Mrs. J. C. Carlyon, Mr. N. C. C. Shepherd; committee, Mesdames Lawson, Sharp, McGill, J. T. Holland, Harkness, Halpin, Lowell McKenzie, J. Buck, Saunders, Brandon, Messrs Robbins, T. Hardie, Cole, H. E. Pendegrast (headmaster). Votes of sympathy were passed to Mrs. Lawson and Mr. Pendegrast. It was decided to discuss the matter of radio instalment at the next meeting. GOLF CLUB. The annual meeting of the Featherston Ladies’ Golf Club was held on Monday night, Mrs. Roy Donald being in the chair. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Captain, Mrs.. Davis; secretary, Mrs. H. McCarty; committee, Mrs. L. G. Benton, Miss M. Bloxam, Mrs. Turnbull. It was decided to hold the ladies’ competitions on Wednesday afternoons. QUEEN CARNIVAL. A social in connection with the queen carnival was held in the Parish Hall on- Monday evening when competitions, games and dancing we’-e enjoyed. A dainty supper was served. ' LOYAL UNITY LODGE. The monthly meeting of the Loyal Unity Lodge, 1.0.0. F. M.U., was held in the lodge room last night. All the officers were present, together with a good number of members and vi >iting members. ' The credit balance in the current account is £6O 10s. Sick pay and sundry accounts amounting to £lO 13s were passed for payment. One new member was initiated. BOWLING CLUB.
In the progressive pairs tournament played during the week-end the winners were:: Leads, Mr. J. Anderson, skips, Mr. H. Bloxam. The Featherston pair, Messrs J. Higgison and F. W. Smith were successful in winning the Wairarapa pairs championship.
The champion rink of Wairarapa was won by the Featherston rink (Messrs J. Hyland, L. James, G. O’Neale, W. Higgison (s). PERSONAL The friends of Miss Esma Card will be pleased to hear that she is making satisfactory progress towards recovery after her recent illness.
