FEILDING SALE

BUSINESS LIFELESS. ON ACCOUNT OF SHORTAGE OF FEED. FEILDING, April 1. Business in all sections at the Feilding sale to-day was lifeless due to a shortage of feed thrqugh the dry spell. The yarding was very small for this time of the year. A few prime head of fat sheep made good values, but store sheep were particularly hard to quit, as were also cattle. Fat stock sold at prices ’approximating late rates. Prices were as follow: —

Fat sheep: Heavy prime ewes, 18/10 to 19/10; medium, 16/7 to 18/-; unfinished, 13/2 to 15/-; extra heavy maiden ewes, 23/10 to 25/6; prime finished lambs, 26/- to 27/9; light, 18/6; choice wethers, 27/6 to 28/-; medium, 26/6; lighter, 22/6 to 24/6. Store sheep: Black-faced lambs, best, 13/4; average sorts, 10/- to 12/-; inferior, from 9/-; good white-faced, 13/5 to 13/10; average lines, 10/6 to 11/6; four and six-tooth wethers, 20/9; ewe lambs, 17/6 to 18/3; m.a. ewes, 24/-; six-year ewes, 13/- to 17/-. Store cattle: Weaner Jersey heifers, large, £2/10/- to £3; others, £l/11/- to £l/15/-; heifers, r.w.b., £3/10/- to £3 12/-; forward cows, £4 to £4/4/-; boners, £l/10/- to £3/12/6; 20-month m.c. steers, £4/10/- to £5/10/-; 20-months P.A. heifers, £5/7/- to £5/10/-; cows, and calves, £5/2/-; potter bulls, £2 to £7/5/-.

Dairy cattle: Choice springing cows, £7/10/- to £B/10/-; heifers, £9/10/-; others, £2/17/6 to £5; heifers in milk, £4/10/- to £6/15/-.

Fat cattle: Cows, ex dairy, best, £6 10/- to £7/15/-; mediumweights, £5 10/- to £6/2/-; light, £4/2/6 to £5.

Pigs: Weaners, 4/6 to 10/-; slips, 7/- to 13/-; stores, 12/- to £l/15/-; light porkers, £l/14/-.
