CARTERTON SALE

At the Carterton stock sale yesterday, Messrs Wright Stephenson’s offered good yardings of sheep, cattle and pigs. Prices throughout were on a par with late sales, and practically a total clearance was effected under the hammer as follows: —

Sheep: Two-tooth ewes to 25/-; five-year ewes, to 21/6; s.m. ewes, 14/3 to 15/7; fat ewes, 15/1 to 16/-; two and four-tooth wethers, to 20/-; f. and f. wethers, to 22/1; store ewes, 9/6 to 11/6; woolly wether lambs, to 13/9; b.f. lambs, 10/10 to 16/9; small b.f. lambs, to 8/6; small wether lambs, 8/1 to 8/6; first-shear Romney rams, 24/to 29/-.

Cattle: Holstein cows on drop to £l3/10/-; springing Jersey cows, £6 10/- to £9/10/-; Jersey cows just calved, to £7/10/-; three-year Jersey heifers on drop, £7 to £9/15/-; fat heifers, £5/2/6 to £6; fat cows, £4/12/6 to £6/5/-; forward cows, £3/1/- to £4/5/-; store cows, 37/6 to £2/15/-; cull cows, 23/.- to 35/-; cows and calves, £3/10/to £6/11/-; coloured steers, to £4/5/-; bulls, £3/15/- to £7; weaner Jersey heifers, 37/6 to £2/10/-; 18-month Jersey heifers to £4.

Pigs: Weaners, small, 5/- to 6/6; weaners, medium, 7/- to 8/6; weaners, good, 9/- to 11/-; slips, 12/6 to 17/-; store pigs, 18/- to 22/-; light porkers, 25/- to 28/6; porkers, 30/- to £2/5/-; choppers, 30/- to £3/2/6.
