POLICE COURT-TE AWAMUTU.

TUESDAY, November 7th. Before Messrs G. H. White and H. Irvine, JVsP. « Walter Richard Carter, laborer, late of Hairini, was charged by the police (Constable Lander), with stealing a rug valued at £l at Te Awamutu on Oct. 21st, the property of John Duthie. The accused pleaded not guilty. Evidence for prosecution was given by C. Parker, J. McDonald, and Acting-Detective Cullen, of Auckland, where the accused had been arrested. After hearing the evidence, the accused was convicted and sentenced to one month’s imprisonment with hard labour in the Auckland gaol.
