KIO KIO.
(Own CoiTespondent.)
On' Tuesday evening a very successful concert was held to celebrate the first year of the Kio Kio Farmers' Union existence. There was a very good attendance, settlers being present from all parts of the district. Mr W. Hudson was secretary, and to his untiring efforts the success of the evening is very largely due. The programme rendered was very highly appreciated. Addresses were given by the chairman and vice-chairman of the branch, following which songs were rendered by Misses Ross and Bloxsome, Mrs Gardiner, Messrs Owen Phillips, Danks. Shahan, and Archibald; recitations by Misses Cooper and Forster; Messrs Rankin, W. Ogle, Hudson and Master C. Rodgers. Mrs Rodgers and Miss Ross sang a duet, and instrumental duets were contributed by Messrs Danks and Archibald (violin), and Misses Budge (piano). At the conclusion of the programme supper was served, and an informal dance terminated a very pleasant function. It is hoped that this will be but the forerunner of many similar entertainments throughout the winter months.
