OTOROHANGA.

As a result of a very successful euchre drive and social held at Otorohanga on Wednesday June 14th, the building fund for a lonian Catholic church will be supplemented to the extent of about £6. There were about one hundred people present, and nineteen tables were fully occupied. Mr Worthington was the director. Mrs Gardiner, after tying wild Miss Hamilton won the ladies' prize, v which was a handsome silver backed hair-brush presented by Father Brennan, and Mr j Mantelo won the gentleman's prize with a creditable score of

twelve wins out of fourteen games. Mr Neary donated a hand sewn riding bridle for the gentleman's prize. Miss En a Mooney and Mr G. Cutfield were greeted with applause when

Father Brennan presented them with the consolation prizes. Full justice was done to the ample supper provided by the ladies' committee. Turner's hall was then cleared, and dancing was kept up till the early hours of the morning. Amongst the number of pretty dresses worn by the ladies, a few that we noticed were Mrs Worthington lavender blouse black skirt, Mrs Forster cream, Mrs Burke black, Mrs Gardiner black, Miss Naughton pretty cream, blue belt, Miss Reardon pale blue silk, Mrs Roigard soft grey, Miss Mooney black, Miss Ena Mooney cream, Mrs Cumpstone black silk, Mrs Holden black, trimmed with jet, Mrs Johnson black silk, Miss D. Johnson pale blue muslin, Mrs Miller black and white, Mrs Kid'6oa white muslin, Mrs Whyte cream net, Mrs Gregg soft cream dress, Mrs Young russett brown, Mrs Watkin pale pink, Mrs Hosking black silk, Miss Hosking black and white silk, Mrs Bankier

white embroidered muslin, Mrs Spencer dove grey, Miss Board soft white silk, Miss Vicary cream, Mrs G. Renolds dark green, Miss Furbur red and white Miss Larsen cream.
