SCHOOL BOYS' MATCH. TE AWAMUTU V. OTOROHANGA. [By One of the Team.] Last Saturday the Otorohanga school boys came to play a football match witlilthe'Te Awamutu boys. The local"team won the toss. From the kick off Finch took the ball, and from a welljudged kick found the line, after which some loose play followed. When sides were changed the. game became a trifle slow. Te Awamutu were penalised for offside play. Up and down play followed, when half-time was called. On resuming both sides began to rally. Twice Hinton got possession of the ball and nearly crossed, but on each occasion the situation was saved by Kin, who was playing a grand game. The local backs then made a fine passing rush, but forced out of bounds. Merryweather got possession, and passed to Davis, the latter scoring. Tai took the kick, but being a difficult angle, he failed to increase the score, the game ending, Te Awamutu 3, Otorohanga 0. The visitors played so well together that it would be hard to single out any particular player. The pick of the local team were: —Davis, Bayly, Hinton, Griffith, Tai, Finch, North, and Merryweather. After the match both teams were refreshed with tea and cakes. The visitors took their departure by the 4 p.m. train.
