TE AWAMUTU FOOTBALL CLUB.

Members bt the above Club met at the Commercial Hotel on Saturday night to consider the action of the Cambridge Rugby Union in disqualifying their team from the Union. The attendance was very large. Mr F. D. Wood presided, and in a few opening remarks explained the cause of the meeting. The secretary (Mr W. G. Abbott) read the correspondence. It appears that the secretary of the Union, in response to the application of the local club to be registered, pointed out that R. Cunningham was a registered member of the Kihikihi club, but if that club had no objection to his playing the Union would be quite willing to register him as a Te Awamutu player. Subsequent letters were written, and on the captain of the Kihikihi club being interviewed he, after consulting his team, -said they were quite willing to' fall in with the proposal.

With matters so arranged Cunningham was duly included in the Te Awamutu team. Although it had been rumoured that if Te Awamutu played with Cunningham they would be disqualified, no team had ever hinted at raising a protest, and it was with surprise that notice of disqualification had been received. The secretary had requested the Union on several. occasions to be supplied with a copy of the by-laws, but no notice of the request had so far been taken. When the question of appealing was considered it was found that the Cambridge Union was not affiliated with any association, so that an appeal could only be made to the men who had disqualified the team. In view of this Mr F.D. Wood was requested to write to the secretary of the South Auckland Association requesting him to "point out to the Cambridge Union the need of their affiliating with an association, at the same time giving notice of the club's intention to appeal. Mr W. G. Abbott tendered his resignation as secretary and club captain owing to his early de-

parture from the district. Several members spoke of the good work done by Mr Abbott, and on the motion of the chairman the resignation was accepted with regret. Mr S. H. West was elected secretary, Mr E. A. Cox captain, and Mr R. Cunningham vice-captain.
