The annual meeting of householders to elect a school committee for the ensuing year was held in the school-house on Monday evening, but owing either to the rather inclement weather, indifference in regard to school matters, or satisfaction with the working of the school generally, the attendance was very small. Mr Thos. Weal was voted to the chair. The annual report and statement of accounts were read by Mr W. H. Mandeno (secretary), and duly signed by the chairman. The annual report referred to the satisfactory working of the school, and also to the necessity for certain repairs, which have been broiight under the notice of the Board of Education, whose architect is early expected to report. The following gentlemen were then elected as a committee for the ensuing year: —Messrs J. H. Mandeno (reelected) chairman ; W. H. Mandeno (re-elected) secretary and treasurer; Thos. Weal, and Butterworth ; while the names of the following gentlemen were recommended to the Board to complete the necessary number (7): —Messrs W. Long, Jas. Gruickshank, and F. Bowden. Those members of the new committee present then helcj their first meeting. The chairman and secretary being re-elected, it was decided to at once proceed with

much-needed improvements and repairs to the school property. After the routine business had been disposed of the meeting clo ed with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
