Melbourne, May 15. The House of Representatives defeated two attempts to alter the flash point of kerosene with a view to imposing a duty. Kerosene, therefore, remains fiee. They also disagreed with the Senate’s request for an increase in the duty on New Zealand pine and red beech to Is 6d per 100 feet.
